Certificate of Completion
Once you review all chapters, videos and pass the online quiz, you will receive a 'Certificate of Completion' from Fire N Ice Driving Academy. Certificates are valid when signed by your Instructor. Students can reprint certificates from their account dashboard if required.
We even provide the Reference Materials
To save students money, we have included downloadable copies of the 'Alberta Driver's Guide - Cars and Light Trucks - 2023-04' Student Guide and the 'Class 5 Driver Education - Guide for Students' Workbook as a preface inside of your course. Just print that pages you need to complete any assignments or exercises.
How the Program Works
We’ve structured our curriculum into two core phases to maximize your learning and convenience:
Phase 1: Professional Theory (15 Hours) Access our comprehensive curriculum at your own pace online. You’ll cover essential road rules, defensive driving strategies, and hazard awareness. To ensure you've mastered the material, the phase concludes with a 30-question exam (80% passing grade required).
Phase 2: Behind-the-Wheel Training (10 Hours) Put your knowledge into practice with 1-on-1 personalized driving instruction. Our certified instructors work with you in a dual-controlled vehicle to build your skills in real-world traffic, covering everything from basic handling to advanced intersection management and parking.
What You’ll Achieve Upon successful completion of both the theory exam and the in-car hours, you will receive a Government of Alberta Course Completion Certificate. This isn't just a milestone—it is your ticket to potential insurance premium discounts and a lifetime of safe driving habits.

Online instruction
We are approved to provide the Province of Alberta Class 5 GDL Driver Education course required 15 hours of non driving instruction in a self paced, online learning format to affiliate driving schools, as well as our own students. Students can learn online according to their schedules and review material if required.

To save students money, we even include a preface course chapter where you can download the reference materials for your course in PDF format for FREE. How do I get my Insurance Reduction Certificate? To earn your official Alberta Government certificate, you must successfully complete both parts of our program: the 15-hour theory portion (with a minimum 80% exam score) and the 10-hour in-car training (with a minimum 75% evaluation score). Once completed, we will issue your certificate, which you can present to your insurance provider for potential premium discounts.
Can I start the in-car driving lessons right away? Alberta Transportation guidelines recommend that students begin their theory modules before starting in-car instruction. This ensures you have a foundational understanding of road rules before getting behind the wheel. Once you’ve registered and started your online modules, you can coordinate with our team to schedule your 10 hours of personalized driving sessions.
Does this course include the actual Road Test? No, the Class 5 Road Test is administered by an Alberta Registry Examiner and must be booked through a registry office. However, our program is specifically designed to prepare you for that test. We focus on the exact maneuvers—such as parallel parking, uncontrolled intersections, and highway merging—that examiners look for to ensure you pass with confidence.
